First let me say I love Risk. I actually played it last night. Which is why I was excited to find out there is going to be a new Risk game coming out this fall. Not only in board game style, but also for video game consoles via download through options like Wii Ware and Xbox Live Arcade. I for one will probably be getting both so I can play at home and online.
This brings us to the title, thanks to the folks over at Joystiq.com for the pictures below.

This is by far one of the coolest most stylish games I have ever seen. The look alone is enough to make me want to play it. Not only that but the new rules are set to make the game more strategic but at the same time, allow a group of friends to sti down and finish the game in a decent amount of time. I would love to play a two hour game of Risk, since the game can sometimes go on forever.
Unfortunately, we won't be getting that amazing beautiful board game. "And sadly, it won't be the Risk future generations remember, either. When Hasbro unveils the new version of Risk this fall, the commercial release will eschew the subdued aesthetic of Black Ops for the standard bright colors and decided optimism of the classic conquest title."-Joystiq.com
Sure it will be the new board and game play, but the styled look got me so excited to play it. This less stylish more colorful and family friendly look just makes me disappointed that hasbro has decided to do this. Either way though the game should be great, and I can't wait until fall comes around to play it.

the other version for the plebs is a ghastly gaudy version which lacks the refinement of the design you reviewed. hopefully someone can convince Hasbro to think again
